Activity types

Activities are the core learning components available in the IngenuitiLMS. One course is composed of multiple activities.

To provide Instructional Designers with a wide variety of tools to provide the most engaging learning experience accommodating different learning styles and content delivery methods. IngenuitiLMS supports the following types of activities:

  • SCORM packages:

SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) packages are a standardized format for e-learning content. In IngenuitiLMS, SCORM packages allow for interactive, multimedia-rich lessons that can include quizzes, simulations, animations, and other engaging elements. These packages track learner progress, scores, and time spent on the content, providing valuable data for both instructors and learners. The integration of SCORM packages within the LMS ensures a seamless learning experience by enabling features like resume progress and detailed performance reporting.

    Tip

Content managers can set options for SCORM packages to be displayed embedded in the IngenutiLMS interface, or loaded in an external pop-up window.

  • Videos:

Videos are a versatile lesson type offered by IngenuitiLMS, used to deliver visual and auditory content. Video lessons can range from lecture recordings and instructional demonstrations to animations and interview segments. They cater to visual and auditory learners and are particularly effective for illustrating complex concepts, storytelling, or showcasing real-world applications. Videos in IngenuitiLMS can include features such as playback controls, captions, and resuming of progress.

    Tip

Content managers can use Video files, YouTube links, or Vimeo links as the source for these activities. No matter the video source, all videos are played directly in the IngenuitiLMS video player.

Content managers can control settings to enable playback speeds and fast-forward options when setting video activities.

  • PDFs:

PDFs (Portable Document Format) can be used in IngenuitiLMS for delivering text-based resources that can include extensive written content such as lecture notes, reading materials, guides, and supplementary resources. They provide a reliable way to present information with a consistent layout, regardless of device or platform. PDFs can contain rich text formatting, images, and embedded links, enabling learners to access comprehensive and well-organized information.

    Tip

PDF files are displayed in the integrated IngenuitiLMS PDF Viewer. Content managers can enable downloads as an option for their learners.

  • Hyperlinks:

Hyperlinks serve as an activity type in IngenuitiLMS that connects learners to external or internal resources on the web. These can include links to articles, websites, online tools, or other digital materials that complement the course content. Hyperlinks are useful for directing learners to additional resources like academic journals, industry reports, multimedia content, or real-time datasets that are not directly hosted within the LMS. By using hyperlinks, instructors can expand the learning environment beyond the LMS platform, giving learners access to a wider array of information and supporting self-directed exploration.

Each of these lesson types in IngenuitiLMS enables the creation of diverse and dynamic learning experiences, ensuring that learners have access to a variety of content delivery methods tailored to different educational needs and preferences.
