Getting Started: Learners

Welcome to the Getting Started guide designed specifically for Learners of IngenuitiLMS. This section aims to equip you with the essential tools and knowledge to navigate your educational journey smoothly and effectively within our platform. Whether you're new to online learning or transitioning from another system, this guide will help you start strong and get the most out of your learning experience.

Account Creation and Logging In

First, your LMS administrator will create your user account for you. When this happens, you will either receive an automated notification from our system via email (or SMS), or you will be provided your account credentials from your administrator directly.

Then, to access any content within the LMS, you will need to login into your account.

  • Navigate to the login page.
  • Enter your registered identifier, email, or phone number
  • Enter your password and click "Log In".
  • Once logged in, you will be directed to your learner dashboard.

Info

The first time you log into the system, you will be required to change your password and accept the terms of use.

Your dashboard is the central hub for all your learning activities. Here’s a quick overview of its key components:

Required Courses Access a list of courses you have been directly assigned to and are required to complete.

Optional Courses Shows a list of optional courses that are available for you. You may access these at any time for additional learning.

Completed Courses This section will display any courses you have completed.

Info

All three sections will include the assignment date, due date, and current completion status for the course. Click on any course title to enter its specific page.

Accessing a Course

The course details page will contain additional information about the selected course. To access the course activities, click on the Content tab, or use the pane on the right side.

Each activity is a self-contaned lesson that must be completed. The lessons can be Videos, PDFs, external links, or eLearning courses. As you complete each of the activities, the progress bar for your course will update. Note that some courses may only contain one activity.

Your content manager may limit access to activities in a sequential order, meaning some activities may be locked until the preceding activities are completed.

Tip

You can use the Continue course button at the top of the course details page to automatically continue your learning from the appropriate activity.

Viewing and Completing Activities

The IngenuitiLMS allows course designers to use different content types in their courses. How each activity is viewed and can be completed depends on this type:

  • SCORM packages: eLearning packages are self-contained learning components. Their structure will vary greatly, but in most cases completion will be based on accessing all the available content and possibly passing a final assessment. The activity itself should provide easy to follow navigation instructions for learners to ensure completion.
  • Videos: Video activities provide learners with a video player to watch the content. To mark a video activity as completed, the video needs to be watched all the way through.
  • PDFs: This type of activity is presented in a PDF viewer directly in the LMS. If the course manager has enabled the option, the PDF will also be downloadable. PDF activities are completed as soon as the PDF is displayed to the learner.
  • Hyperlinks: For hyperlink activities, the course manager will provide an external link for content that needs to be reviewed. Since the LMS has no control over the external content, the activity is marked completed as soon as the learner is redirect to the resource.
